As of earlier this month, about 14,000 Missouri households had applied for FEMA’s Individual Assistance Program, which can provide people with money for stopgap home repairs not covered by insurance, as well as other needs. About 7,000 households had been deemed eligible, and more than $31 million had been disbursed to people affected by May 16 storms, with nearly all of it going to city residents.
