ST. LOUIS 鈥 Former city schools leader Kelvin Adams has been named president and CEO of the 果酱视频 Community Foundation, the nonprofit said Wednesday.
Adams, 66, retired in December after 14 years as superintendent of 果酱视频 Public Schools.
鈥淭his is a pivotal moment for the 果酱视频 Community Foundation as we enter a new era of support for the region,鈥 said Shelley Seifert, chairman of the nonprofit鈥檚 board, in a statement. 鈥淔ollowing an extensive listening tour, the Board sought a leader with a proven record of community commitment, collaboration and driving positive outcomes. We couldn鈥檛 ask for a better fit for this role than Dr. Kelvin Adams.鈥
Adams starts the new position Aug. 7 and will replace interim president Gary Dollar.
In March, Adams was named associate dean of the college of education and distinguished professor at Harris-Stowe State University. He will continue in the professor role at the university, according to the community foundation.
As superintendent of SLPS, Adams stabilized finances and helped the district regain full accreditation. He also recommended the closure of dozens of schools amid a decline in enrollment.

The $500 million 果酱视频 Community Foundation manages funds for philanthropic donations and hosts the annual fundraising drive Give STL Day.
